GYMNASTICS
School Age~ A program for the first year gymnast ages 5-7, in which a secure and supportive environment will enhance the gymnastics experience. Emphasis is on safety and FUN, as well as the development of a strong gymnastics foundation. (55 minutes)
Intermediate~ This class allows for more advanced work with emphasis on flexibility and strength training which are essential for the advanced gymnast. (85 minutes)
Advanced~ A 2 hour program which is by invitation only. Gymnasts begin working on USA Gymnastics Level program and have the opportunity to participate in “Fun Meets” which are held throughout the year. (115 minutes)
Red Team, Prep Team, & Level Team are all by coaches invitation only. Please speak with a team coach or Miss Kathy if you have questions regarding these programs.
Attire for all gymnastics classes: Girls: body leotard, bare legs, bare feet. Boys: fitted t-shirt, sweat pants, or shorts, no zippers, snaps or buckles, bare feet.

Ballet/Gym II ~ Ages 5&6. Class length 55 minutes, with 30 minutes dance, and 25 minutes of gymnastics. In the dance portion, the student will begin with stretches, go on to barre work, center work, and conclude the lesson with a song. For gymnastics, the children will participate on all equipment in the gymnastics school and follow the lessons of “school age” gymnastics.
Attire: black short sleeved leotard, pink tights, pink tutu, pink ballet shoes, and white gymnastics shoes.
Ballet~The classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base for supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Carriage and usage of torso and arms are also stressed. Traditional barre and center work and combinations are included in all classes. (40 minutes)
Attire: Black tank leotard, pink tights, pink ballet skirt, pink ballet slippers
Tap~ Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on intricate footwork creating a percussion instrument out of the feet. (40 minutes)
Attire: Black short sleeved leotard, black tights or black jazz pants, black tap shoes.
Jazz~ A form of dance which emphasizes personal expression created and sustained through improvisation. Jazz curriculum focuses on some defining characteristics, including, isolation, centrifugal movement from hips, and rhythm that gives a swinging quality to the movement. (40 minutes)
Attire: Black tank leotard, black jazz pants, black jazz shoes
Hip Hop~ A high energy class that uses the latest sounds in pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip Hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin’, locking, and break. Please be assured that at The Dance Academy, we will only use age-appropriate movements and music. (40 minutes)

Cheer Kids 2 ~ Class curriculum will emphasis safety, while teaching tumbling basics for cheerleading, including, round offs, back handsprings, and aerials. Class will only focus on strength, flexibility, cheer building, choreography, and stunting. (40 minutes)
